Qatar will host the 2015 Men’s World Handball Championship’s in January and all the action can be caught right here on LIVESPORT*.
The 24th edition of the prestigious event will be participated amongst 24 nations including hosts Qatar and 2013 World Champions Spain. The action begins on 15th January and continues until the final on February 1st.
The group stage has thrown up some mouth watering fixtures almost immediately as hosts Qatar face reigning champions Spain in a group game on 21st January that could be pivotal to both nation’s chances of qualification to the next phase. The hosts face a tough prospect in a group that also includes Slovenia who made it to the 3rd/4th place play off in 2013
The competition’s pits both debutants together in Group B as Iran and Bosnia and Herzegovina meet each other in their first ever World Championship game.
In group C the two most successful Handball nations will also have to face each other. Sweden and France have been medallists 11 and 8 times respectively and the final game in group C could be decisive. Both nations have won the competition 4 times apiece and it would be a major surprise to see either Pot 1 seed eliminated but the tie could provide key insight for either side’s chances in the later rounds.
The standout tie in Group D features 4 time winners, Russia against the 2013 runners up, Denmark but also includes wild cards Germany who have a rich history and tradition in the competition despite needing a wild card to qualify this time around.
